COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SCI Engineered Materials, Inc. (“SCI”) (SCIA:OTCQB), a global supplier and manufacturer of advanced materials for physical vapor deposition thin film applications who works closely with end users and OEMs to develop innovative, customized solutions, today announced Daniel Rooney, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), has informed the Board of Directors (Board) of his plans to retire in June 2019. Mr. Rooney, 64, has served as the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer since March 2002 and also as Chairman of the Board since January 2003.
During Mr. Rooney’s tenure, he has been instrumental in focusing the Company on innovative product opportunities in the photonics, thin film solar and transparent electronics markets. Under his leadership the Company has built a strong management team, increased its manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand, and strengthened its research and development capabilities with a particular emphasis on accelerating time to market. As a result, SCI is well positioned to achieve further success as it pursues significant growth opportunities.

The Board will initiate a search for a new President and CEO and will consider qualified candidates from inside and outside the Company. It is expected to take several months to complete this process. Mr. Rooney plans to work with his successor in order to ensure a smooth transition.
